Once upon a time, there was a man, his name was John. He was sent by God to point out the way to the Life-Light. The Life-Light you might say. The Life-Light was the real thing. John came to show everyone where to look for the Life-Light. And who to believe in. John wasn’t the Light himself. He was to show the way to the Light.
So of course the people around John were super curious about who John was then. Tell us -anything!- about yourself. So John boldly said:
“I’m thunder in the desert. (a voice shouting in the wilderness) Make the road straight for God.”
Guess who you are. Thunder in the desert. Showing peeps the way to the Life-Light. aka Jesus. the way. the truth. the life. Making straight the road for God. “We are the wild ones. The bursting rivers in the wilderness. The roaring thunder in the desert. The calm breeze in the heat of day. The children of stardust. Dancing in endless fields of flowers. Creation is ready, so ready for the fire of our wild hearts.”
Being a roaring thunder in the desert means you are badass. I bet a storm in the desert scares the hell out of people. A roaring thunder is sooooo loud. It lights up the whole wilderness. Like you can’t get around the thunder. It is there right in your face. Just like you basically. You can try to hide. But darling you are a wild one. You are thunder in the desert. There is no place of hiding in the desert. Especially not if you are thunder.
So give yourself permission to be thunder. But whoever did want Him, who believed who He claimed and would do what He said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. Their wild selves. Give yourself permission to live a wild life. Everything in our lifestyle points towards the Life-Light. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out. Our lives cut through darkness. Give yourself permission to be loud. Give yourself permission to be you. Fully you.
What if we were today’s John? With his different clothes? What if you dressed in your way, the way people describe as too much, hideous, you spend too much care on your outer appearance, and just enjoy the creativity and enjoyment you put every day into it. And God will work through that. Just like He did with those handkerchiefs. What if you ate weird things like John? What if you were the kind that is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free cause your body thrives on that? And be gorgeous like Daniel?
What if we were the ones that said what we needed to say and would not shut up because of peoples opinions. What if we were bold ones and went into the desert by choice. What if we were loving Jesus with such an honour. What if we were loud. What if we were too much. What if we were right who we were meant to be.
You are made out of thunder. You weren’t meant to be quiet. You weren’t meant to sit at the back. You weren’t meant to hold your words in. You weren’t meant to tone your boldness down. What because it scares people? It scares the hell out of people. And that is right what we need. The hell out of people. So we all can be filled with love.
